Management Committee


The Management Committee sets the strategic direction and oversees the execution of all of BIFF's programmes. The members of the committee are:

Aideen Ratteray Pryse, Festival Director


A founding member of BIFF, Aideen has served as Festival Director since 1997. Aideen trained as an urban planner, having obtained a Bachelor’s degree at McGill University and a Master’s at the University of Waterloo. She was formerly employed with the Bermuda Department of Planning as Assistant Director (Administration & Control). In addition to her film festival work, she is a member of the board of directors of the Centre on Philanthropy.



David O’Beirne, Director of Programming


David has served as Director of Programming since the Festival’s inception in 1997. A senior architect at Bermuda firm, OBM, David studied at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, earning a Diploma and Bachelor’s degree in Architecture. He has been practicing since 1981. David is also a BIFF Trustee and a founding member of the Festival.

Carol Dixon, Volunteer Co-ordinator


Carol first volunteered with BIFF in 2000, and assumed her current position in 2007. Carol has had a long and varied career in information technology, starting as a programmer in her native Ireland. In 1995, she was lured to Bermuda by the Bank of Bermuda and, more particularly, her love of watersports. She sits on the governing board of South African non-profit organisation, Feedback Food Redistribution, which redistributes excess food to communities in need. She also volunteers for the Kathmandu Kids' Club and the Mid Atlantic Athletic Club.



Sharron Hawker, Special Events


Sharron has been a volunteer with the Festival since 2003, and joined the management committee as co-head of special events in 2004. She assumed sole responsibility for the area in 2005. Sharron has a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Arizona. She worked in London for BBC World Service radio on the production side and as a print journalist. She also worked for the fashion house, Jaeger, as an event planner.



Cheryl Shane, Sponsor Patron Liaison


Aside from Cheryl’s position as Sponsor Patron Liaison, she also supports the Festival by helping at the BIFF Kids festival box office as well as with various printing and design initiatives. She has been a festival volunteer since 2005. She is the former President of the International American Women’s Club of Bermuda. Her previous volunteer experience includes acting as co-ordinator of the Bermuda Diabetes Association’s Kids on the Block puppet troupe, and design and fabrication of a Bermuda Maritime Museum exhibit.
