ABOUT US

BIFF Kids History

The first BIFF Kids festival was held in 2004 at the 148-seat Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute theatre, and brought quality international children’s films to Bermuda for one weekend. We screened 22 short and feature length films, including a short film made by local youngsters at a film production workshop held the weekend prior to the festival.

The festival moved to the 270-seat Liberty Theatre in 2005, where we screened 46 films, including 22 films made by local youngsters in summer film production workshops presented by the festival. We also debuted our School Screening Series, which saw some 600 students attend a film screening as part of our BIFF Film Academy educational series.

Fifty-five films from 16 countries screened at BIFF Kids 2006, including 22 films made by local youngsters in our summer film production workshops. More than 700 students attended films as part of our School Screening Series. We expanded our offerings to include films for children ages 3 and up, which proved to be very popular.
