On Sunday March 30, we are holding a joint fundraising screening of the film, A Promise to the Dead: the Exile Journey of Ariel Dorfman. Half proceeds to BIFF, and half to the Bermuda chapter of Amnesty International.

Join award-winning filmmaker Peter Raymont as we screen his latest film, about the overthrow of the democratically elected Salvador Allende government in Chile in 1973.

Ariel Dorfman was cultural advisor to Allende, and went into exile where he wrote about the injustices perpetrated by Augusto Pinochet and his regime.

The film is an exploration of exile, memory, longing and democracy, based in part on Dorfman’s memoir, “Heading South, Looking North”.

Tickets are $50, available at the BIFF box office or at the door.
